My first 1000 tweets of life

Today I want to write this post as a milestone for reaching 1000 tweets in twitter and taking a moment to analyze my Time line and see what happen in these 3 years.

As you know, I don't need to tell you, http://twitter.com is a web application, a web platform, that allow to share messages of 140 charatcers with our followers and/or in a public manner.

This platform grew in an exponential way in these 3/4 years.

Why is Twitter such a success?

I think that the Twitter success is caused by the following points:

  • Immediacy:

In Twitter the information and communication flows in an impressive speed,, twitter is sinonym of "real time in the web". It's the fastest way to inform our our followers and the general public the news and articles, we believe importantones.

  • "Smarter Web surfing":

Following people with different backgrounds
and interests, exploring the web and discover relevant content now It isn't to enter into google and search for it,
the people who we follow share with us the content they think is valuable. It's like having an army of Inteligent Agents that search the web for valuable content and share with us those discoveries, with the advantage that these agents are really smart 'cause they are human, or at least that is the idea (That they are smart I mean :) )

  • Snowball effect:

The snowball effect or the traditional "mouth to mouth" in the real world is replicating in twitter, If we don't like a movie or a book we can alert to our followers and If we like some product we can share that comment too, If our followers pass that tweet to their followers (retweet) this action generates the snowball effect.

This feature makes that the companies take more care in how they Esta característica hace que las empresas be more careful in how they treat their customers by increasing the quality of services they provided

  • Collaborative, Participatory and Open:

I'm convinced that the success of online tools is the sharing, building
community, publish information, the freer and more open the better and Twitter is a
clear example of this.
Twitter is consistent with the spirit of the Web. If you have things to hide or you don't want to share then I recommend you do not use twitter.

  • Third-party tools:

Given
the opening of its API (application programming interface) developed
many applications, clients, web's that use twitter and makes easy to use It.
This
sort of ecosystem of applications and services running over twitter
allow many interesting interactions that create value for its users.

  • Power to the users:

"Twitter is what its users want to be": The users find the diverse applications of twitter. It come to my mind the sentence: "Giving to get". Twitter give power to its users, the users give power to Twitter.

  • It's everywhere:

In every moment and everywhere, Twitter is ubiquitous and integrates with thousands of tools, web's and applications. We can tweet from the mobile, the web, desktop, from gmail, chat, etc, There's a story that an Austronaut tweet from space.

Personal stories

I can share the followings experiences:

  • Different perspectives, diversity of opinions:

On twitter I came across people who think and see the world very differently than I see and this is good! because of the diversity of opinions, views I learned a lot. For example: People who believe that copyrigth is to be imposed in the digital age, that "piracy" must be exterminated from root and see the free software movement, as "neo-hippies" While, obviously, I not agree with that point of view it is interesting to know how they think, and act.

  • Collaborative construction:

At this point I mention the article created collaboratively by users who took the initiative of Ariel Torres (http://twitter.com/arieltorres) for birthday number 14 of technology section.

The slogan was to have tweets with certain hashtag (keyword), tell computer anecdotes, then he would collect these tweets and wardrobe created an article together. The experiment was a success, we laugh a lot and partake of a newspaper article! Here is the article mentioned: Cumpleaños del suple en el país de Twitter

  • Consume information and stay informed:

Twitter has changed the way people consume information, now I do not go to google to search, I enter My Time Line... entered the links that seemed interesting people I follow, I trust them and if bothered to read something and share it means that there is something good there.

Related to this, with Twitter I subscribe in channels from journals that are interested to me, and to only those sections that interest me, I find the news and it comes out (like fresh from the oven).

  • Be "closer" to interesting people:

Enter in interaction with known people, "distant" or that builds software tools that we use is usefull and bring us a new sphere different from forums or blogs.

  • The #Motorola #fail #Android case:

This case refers to motorola and Its decision to non update the milestone to Android 2.2 in Latin America, but Motorola will update It in United States. So? How did we feel as "South" users? obviously discriminated and defrauded. We publish our dissatisfaction with the entire web but the largest and most influential movement was on twitter. After that Motorola in a week change Its decision and change the strategy.

Concluding...

Twitter seems to me very valuable and an interesting world. It keeps me informed, gives me useful articles, breaking news and allows the connection with people that was previously out of reach.

Greetings! And keep tweeting ...
